Delhi Liquor Policy Case: BRS leader K. Kavita has challenged the CBI’s decision to interrogate her in jail in the court. On which Rouse Avenue Court will hear at 2 pm. Her lawyer told the court that he has challenged the court’s order on Friday (05 April) in which CBI has been allowed to interrogate Kavita in jail in judicial custody.

BRS MLC Kavita’s lawyer Nitish Rana said that CBI did not inform Kavita about the application and the court passed the order without hearing her side. At present K. Kavita is lodged in Tihar jail in the case of alleged scam in Delhi Excise Policy and Rouse Avenue Court has given permission to CBI to interrogate her in jail.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Kavita was arrested on March 15 from her house in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise scam. In its application, the CBI had sought permission from the court to interrogate Kavita and record her statement in connection with WhatsApp conversations on the mobile phone recovered from co-accused Buchi Babu and documents related to a land deal. Since Kavita is already in judicial custody, court permission was required to interrogate her in jail.

Kavita’s lawyer Nitish Rana said, “The order was passed without giving the accused an opportunity of being heard.” Kavita (46) sought her (Kavita’s) release on interim bail, citing her 16-year-old son’s exams. The request was made to the court on Thursday.
